Join the “Chiayi Art & Cultural Journey” Activity

Would you like to explore Chiayi’s local culture, history, and way of life more deeply? National Chiayi University is organizing the “Chiayi Art & Cultural Journey” activity and invites international students currently enrolled in public or private colleges and universities in the Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan area to join.

This program focuses on “exploring local culture, broadening international perspectives, and developing self-directed learning abilities.” Through field visits, participants will learn about the culture, history, natural landscapes, and local lifestyle of Liujiao and Puzi. The program also aims to enhance cross-cultural understanding and teamwork, while encouraging young people to step out of their comfort zones and gain new life experiences through travel and cultural exchange.

  1. Eligibility
    International students currently enrolled in public or private colleges and universities in the Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan area are eligible to participate.
    International students of National Chiayi University may have a separate schedule arranged. For details, please contact the organizer.
  2. Program Highlights
    Participants will visit local cultural sites and special communities in Liujiao and Puzi. The activities include in-depth experiences related to history, humanities, ecology, and marionette puppetry, as well as local food and hands-on workshops.
  3. Activity Sessions and Fees

Session 1: Saturday, July 4, 2026
Program: Xingang Bantaoyao, Tanqian Koji Pottery, Yongjiu Grocery Store, Chengfeng Community Lecture Hall / Liqing Studio puppet-making, indigo dyeing experience, Suantou Sugar Factory historical guided tour, puppet show, and puppet manipulation experience.

Meeting Point: Chiayi Railway Station
Time: Meet at 08:30; expected return to Chiayi Railway Station at 17:00
Fee: NT$399, including lunch box reservation
Top 3 Highlights: Yongjiu Grocery Store walking tour, Xiao Mi Mi Marionette Theater performance, indigo dyeing experience

Session 2: Saturday, September 26, 2026
Program: Puzi Kaiyuan Old Street walking tour, paper-mache craft workshop, Suantou Sugar Factory historical guided tour, indigo plant restoration activity, indigo dyeing workshop, puppet show, and puppet manipulation experience.

Meeting Point: Chiayi Railway Station
Time: Meet at 08:30; expected return to Minxiong Railway Station at 17:20
Fee: NT$299, lunch is not included. Participants may purchase lunch freely at Puzi First Market.
Top 3 Highlights: indigo plant restoration and indigo dyeing workshop, paper-mache craft workshop, Sanmei Hall glove puppet manipulation experience

Session 3: Saturday, November 7, 2026
Program: Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum, Liqing Studio puppet-making, Suantou Sugar Factory historical guided tour, marionette puppet show, and puppet manipulation experience.

Meeting Point: Chiayi Railway Station
Time: Meet at 08:30; expected return to Chiayi Railway Station at 17:00
Fee: NT$399, including lunch box reservation
Top 3 Highlights: guided tour of the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum, visit to Chunkuei Coffee Bookstore, handmade soap workshop

  1. Fee Information
    This program is subsidized by the Youth Development Administration, Ministry of Education. The subsidy covers insurance, transportation, admission tickets, instructor fees, guided tour fees, material fees, and other related expenses. To balance basic costs, a fee of NT$299 will be collected. For sessions with lunch box reservation, the fee is NT$399.
  2. Registration and Payment
    Please complete the online registration form to register. After registration, please make sure to join the LINE community of the organizing team to receive further activity updates.

Payment must be completed no later than two weeks before the activity. Please transfer the fee to the following account:

Participants who do not complete the payment by the deadline will be considered to have given up their eligibility. After completing the transfer, please reply in the LINE community with the session you wish to register for and the last five digits of your remittance account.

  1. Cancellation and Refund Policy
    Cancellation 7 days before the activity: full refund.
    Cancellation within 7 days before the activity: no refund.

The organizing team reserves the right to make final modifications, changes, interpretations, or cancellations of the itinerary. In the event of natural disasters or other force majeure circumstances that result in cancellation or changes to the itinerary, postponement or refund arrangements will be announced separately.

  1. Notes
    Please bring your personal identification documents, such as your ARC and student ID, as well as any necessary personal medication.
    The itinerary may be adjusted depending on weather and traffic conditions.
    Participants must follow group activity rules and the instructions of the tour leader.
    If you have any special dietary needs or physical conditions, please inform the organizer in advance.
