CCU OIA Holds Orientation for International Exchange Students, Fostering Cross-Cultural Interaction and Buddy Engagement

The Office of International Affairs (OIA) at National Chung Cheng University (CCU) hosted an orientation for newly arrived international exchange students on the morning of September 2nd (Tuesday). The event attracted numerous exchange students and their enthusiastic local buddies. The session was opened by the Vice President of International Affairs, Prof. Victoria Rau, and the Director of the Division of International Students, Assoc. Prof. Van-Linh Nguyen. Both professors warmly welcomed the students, encouraging them to seize this valuable opportunity to broaden their horizons and achieve fruitful academic and personal growth through cross-cultural learning. Notably, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen also took the opportunity to share valuable tips on academic paper writing. The professors emphasized that an overseas exchange is not only an academic challenge but also a crucial opportunity for self-growth and cultural understanding, hoping that students would face all challenges with an open mind.

During the orientation, OIA staff provided detailed information on various aspects of campus life, including academic planning, course selection, housing arrangements, campus resources, and daily living tips on topics such as transportation, food, health, and safety. This comprehensive overview helped students gain a thorough understanding of their new environment before their exchange officially began.

The event concluded with a lively Q&A session where students and buddies actively asked questions about course schedules, cultural differences, accommodation, and adapting to life in Taiwan. The OIA staff provided detailed answers, allowing them to better understand the students' needs and challenges, which will help in the continuous improvement of future services and support. Following the session, the lively atmosphere continued as exchange students and their buddies shared their feelings and future plans, highlighting the value of cross-cultural interaction and strengthening their friendships.

The OIA stated that it hopes students will not only achieve academic success during their exchange at CCU but also experience the local culture and life in Taiwan, understanding different social contexts from diverse perspectives. At the same time, it is hoped that CCU's local students will enhance their global outlook and cross-cultural communication skills through the buddy program. The OIA will continue to provide more comprehensive support and resources in the future, encouraging students to actively participate in various international exchange activities and empowering them to showcase themselves on a global stage and expand their learning and growth.
