Striving for Global Excellence and Embracing the Future: CCU Hosts the 2025 International Exchange Camp

To enhance the exchange of experiences and best practices in international student affairs, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) at National Chung Cheng University (CCU) hosted the 2025 CCU International Affairs Exchange Camp on August 22, 2025 (Friday), from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the OIA Conference Room. The event was part of a joint initiative with National Chung Hsing University, National Cheng Kung University, and National Sun Yat-sen University, and also welcomed participants from National Chiayi University and WuFeng University. The camp gathered international affairs officers and educators from multiple institutions, featuring four invited speakers who shared practical insights on internationalization, student recruitment, support, and global talent development.

The first keynote was delivered by Mr. Muh. Wahyu Islami from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Indonesia, with Topic I: “ITS Internationalization Strategy – Virtual Program” and “The Role of International Officers in Internationalization.” He highlighted ITS’s hybrid initiatives, such as the CommTECH Nusantara program, which continue to attract strong international participation, particularly from the Philippines. He also introduced ITS’s buddy system, which pairs international students with local peers to help them adapt quickly to campus life while fostering meaningful cross-cultural exchange.

Assoc. Prof. Doan Minh Hai of Chienkuo Technology University followed with Topic II: “International Student Recruitment & Management Strategies( 1+4; industry academia collaboration program; intense program).” He emphasized structured support combining language preparation, internships, scholarships, and employment pathways, illustrating how higher education can align with industry needs.

The third session, Topic III: “From Needs to Solutions: Sharing Experiences in International Student Recruitment and Advising,” was presented by Dr. Andrew Tsung, Executive Director for International Affairs at National Taiwan University. He outlined NTU’s admission reforms and student services, stressing three priorities: life adaptation, peer support, and future planning.

The final keynote, Topic IV: “To Infinity, and Beyond!” was given by Mr. Shane Tsai, Head of HR at Brogent Technologies Inc. He shared how the company attracts and retains global talent through flexible culture, sustainable benefits, and an international workplace. He encouraged students to dream big and take bold steps toward global careers.

The camp concluded with lively discussions and a dynamic exchange of ideas among participants. The diverse perspectives shared by the four speakers offered valuable insights for both academia and industry. Looking ahead, CCU’s Office of International Affairs (OIA) will continue to enhance its online content and recruitment strategies while fostering meaningful partnerships through genuine collaboration at multiple levels, ranging from professor-to-professor exchanges and laboratory cooperation to joint research projects, student mobility programs, and MoE/NSTC initiatives such as TEEP and IIPP. The OIA is also committed to sustainable development by maintaining a strong presence at international talent recruitment fairs, providing accessible bilingual (English–Chinese) resources, and refining initiatives that support international students in daily life, career exploration, and long-term professional growth. In addition, OIA will strengthen connections with industry partners, not only enriching existing relationships but also creating more opportunities for international students to engage in paid internships and secure high-quality, well-paid career paths. OIA will collaborate with the Language Center to promote and upgrade the Chinese language programs, ensuring it is tailored to the needs of international learners. The program’s goal is not only to improve students’ language proficiency but also to help them gain deeper insights into Taiwan’s society and workplace culture. By mastering Chinese, international students will be better equipped to adapt, connect, and thrive (both academically and professionally) during their time in Taiwan. Through these efforts, OIA strives to advance the internationalization of Taiwan’s higher education and to position CCU as a premier destination for global talent and academic excellence.

Through determined actions and heartfelt commitment, CCU strives to deepen its international engagement and foster meaningful global connections.
