The 2022 National Tsing Hua University Global Summer School
The 2022 National Tsing Hua University Global Summer School (NTHU GSS) is now open for applications. Foreign students from all countries are welcome to join us!
NTHU is located in Hsinchu, the center of Taiwan's hi-tech industry. As an outstanding university and research institution in Taiwan, we hope to provide students with a forward-looking and broad vision for the future. Furthermore, we provide a Basic Mandarin Course, and we'll arrange cultural activities for the students to experience Taiwanese rich culture.
NTHU is a renowned comprehensive research university in Taiwan with the highest rate of faculty winning national academic accolades and the most US patent holdings among Taiwan universities (world ranking: 11th) given its medium size of ~800 full-time faculty members and 15,000 students. It is among the top 2 universities in Taiwan, ranking 168th in the world according to the latest QS report with several specific disciplines ranking in the top 100.
NTHU is located in the city named “Hsinchu”, in the north of Taiwan. Because Hsinchu Science Park and Hsinchu Industrial Park are also located here, the city is widely considered as the Silicon Valley in Taiwan. With the thriving economy over the past few decades, we have great High-Tech research resources. Our campus also has convenient public transportation, including direct inter-city bus lines and the Taiwan High-Speed Rail (HSR). The Taipei-bound buses stop at right outside the NTHU main gate, every 10-15 minutes almost around the clock. Besides, it takes 40 min ride from the international airport and less the 2 hours to the major cities of Taiwan by HSR.
The weather is pleasant during the summertime, and you can have a quality stay in one of the most beautiful, resourceful campuses in Taiwan if you choose to come over.
Be Known for the History and Resources
National Tsing Hua University has a long and proud history. First established as the Tsing Hua Academy at Tsing Hua Garden, Beijing in 1911, it was the first modern university in Chinese history. The Academy was renamed as National Tsing Hua University in 1928 as its curricula expanded to that of a full-fledged university. After WWII, and the Chinese civil war, in 1956, National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) was reinstalled on its current campus in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Since its reinstallation, NTHU has developed from an institute focusing on Nuclear Science and Technology to that of a comprehensive research university, offering degrees programs from baccalaureate to doctorate in science, engineering, life science, humanities and social sciences, management, education, as well as arts. NTHU has been consistently ranked as one of the premier universities in Taiwan and is widely recognized as the best incubator for future leaders in industries as well as academia. Such stellar records are particularly exemplified by the outstanding achievements of our alumni, including two Nobel laureates in physics, Dr. Cheng-Ning Yang and Tsung-Dao Lee, one Nobel laureate in chemistry, Dr. Yuan-Tseh Lee, and one Wolf Prize winner in mathematics Dr. Shiing-Shen Chern.
