To help international students quickly become familiar with the campus and adjust smoothly to studying and living in Taiwan, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) at National Chung Cheng University (CCU) held its Fall 2026 International Student Orientation on September 3.

The event was hosted by Prof. Victoria Ho, Vice President of International Affairs, with Assistant Prof. Van-Linh Nguyen, Director, Division of International Students, OIA staff members, and student buddies joining the event. Senior international students from different student associations were also invited to share their experiences, including Nguyen Hoang Son, President of the Vietnamese Student Association and a master’s student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering; Ranjan Kumar Mohanty, President of the Indian Student Association and a doctoral student in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences; Ahmed Muhammed Amin, President of the Muslim Student Association and an undergraduate student in Biomedical Sciences; as well as Indonesian student representatives Ricky Kurniawan and Joses Risen Yaptori, an undergraduate student in Computer Science and Information Engineering.

Drawing on their own experiences, the senior students offered practical advice to help newcomers begin their journey at CCU. Their participation brought energy to the orientation and highlighted the vibrant multicultural community on campus.

During the orientation, representatives of the international student associations introduced new students to campus facilities, administrative resources, and notable places around the university from an international student’s perspective. They also shared practical experiences from their own studies and daily lives at CCU, including how to overcome language and cultural barriers, make effective use of university resources, and balance academic work with extracurricular activities. Their first-hand experiences provided new students with useful guidance and greater confidence as they begin their lives at CCU.

To encourage international students to start thinking about their future career development at an early stage, the orientation also introduced the Ministry of Education’s “Program for Promoting International Students to Study and Stay in Taiwan” Through the program, students can learn about career counseling, company visits, job-matching opportunities, and other career development resources provided by the university. Students interested in pursuing careers in Taiwan are encouraged to explore their career options early and gradually develop the skills and experience needed for future employment.

In addition to campus life and career information, the orientation covered key registration procedures and administrative matters. Videos highlighted important regulations on entry into Taiwan, CCU’s smoke-free campus policy, and work permits. A quiz with prizes added interaction while helping students better understand these regulations and procedures.
