To help newly admitted international students adapt smoothly to academic life and daily living in Taiwan, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) at National Chung Cheng University (CCU) held the 2026 Spring International Students Orientation on February 25 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the 4th Floor Meeting Room of the Administration Building. The event was hosted by Prof. Victoria Rau, Vice President for International Affairs, with OIA staff and study buddies in attendance.
In her opening remarks, Prof. Rau warmly welcomed students from around the world and introduced CCU’s International Academic and Career Counseling resources. She encouraged students to take advantage of the university’s support systems and to proactively plan their academic and professional development during their time in Taiwan.
During the session, OIA staff provided a detailed walkthrough of essential administrative procedures, including dormitory check-in, tuition payment, academic registration, residence certificate application, mandatory health examination, Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) application, and bank account setup. Students were reminded to complete their online ARC application within 30 days of arrival and were informed of relevant regulations and potential penalties for late submission.
The orientation also featured a short video on important regulations in Taiwan, covering immigration rules, campus smoke-free policies, and work permit requirements. To reinforce understanding in an engaging way, a quiz with prizes was conducted to review key information shared during the session.
In addition, the OIA introduced the “Professionalization Project of Employment Counseling for International Students in Taiwan Higher Education,” outlining career counseling services, industry visits, and employment matching resources available to students who wish to pursue career opportunities in Taiwan. A briefing on the UCAN career interest assessment was also provided to help students explore their professional interests and strengths.
The latter part of the program focused on interaction between new students and study buddies. Through structured icebreaker activities and group sharing sessions, participants had the opportunity to build connections, exchange experiences, and establish supportive peer networks.
The orientation concluded with a feedback session and closing remarks. The Office of International Affairs reaffirmed its commitment to providing comprehensive guidance and a welcoming campus environment, ensuring that every international student can thrive academically and personally at CCU.
