For 2026, Hanyang University has introduced a revamped summer program architecture, combining its traditional Hanyang International Summer School (HISS) with a new extension called HYLION (Hanyang Linking Intercultural Opportunities Now).
Program Options & Dates
Students can choose between two main durations based on their interest in a multi-country experience:
HISS (4 Weeks): June 29 – July 25, 2026. This includes three weeks in Seoul and one final week at Jeju National University.
HYLION (5 Weeks): June 29 – August 1, 2026. This program adds a fifth week in Tokyo, Japan, in partnership with Waseda University, following the Seoul and Jeju sessions.
Key Deadlines & Application
Application Period: Begins January 1, 2026, and closes May 23, 2026.
Late Deadline: The application may be extended until June 20, 2026, though space is not guaranteed.
Early Bird Discount: A scholarship/discount of KRW 800,000 is available for those who apply by April 30, 2026.
Requirements: A valid passport and a recent academic transcript from your home institution are required.
Program Details
Academics: Over 100 courses are offered in English, covering business, technology, social sciences, and Korean studies. Students can earn up to 9 credits (typically 3 courses).
Locations:
Seoul: Classes at Hanyang's main campus, featuring cultural workshops (K-pop, Taekwondo) and field trips.
Jeju Island: Immersive cultural programs and specialized lectures.
Tokyo (HYLION only): Lectures and cultural activities in partnership with Waseda University.
Fees:
Non-partner students: Approximately KRW 3,100,000 (KRW 100k application fee + KRW 3M program fee).
Housing: Guaranteed on-campus housing in Seoul for all participants. HYLION students also receive guaranteed housing in Tokyo.
