- Global Leadership and Sustainable Development
Global Leadership is the interdisciplinary study of the key elements that future leaders in all realms of the personal experience have to effectively familiarize themselves and apply theses skills in different fields. The course is designed to cultivate students with global views.
- Cross-Cultural Experiences: Japan and the United States
This course introduce the basics of cultural comparison while highlighting the similarities and differences between Japan and the United States. The course is designed to familiarize the students with a few of the trends in comparative cultural studies while providing a broad picture of these two societies.
- Intercultural Communication: Demystifying Courtroom Conversations
This course introduces how to use principles and methods in applied linguistics to examine the language of the legal process and language as evidence. Students are guided to discuss and debate on the legal, criminal, medical, aviation, trademark, and political issues raised in the case studies.
- Chinese Language & Culture
This course is designed for international students who want to improve their Chinese proficiency within a short period of time. It is an intermediate level course in Mandarin Chinese.
- Chinese for Beginners (限外國學生選修)
Participants will learn to pronounce basic Chinese words, write simple and useful Chinese characters and engage in Chinese dialogues in real-life contexts.
- Backpackers and Global Nomad
The course introduces literatures related to tourism studies, migration studies, and Pierre Bourdieu’s idea of taste in order to discuss how globalization has become a trend among backpackers.
Historical Footprints of Taiwan
Students will explore southern Taiwan by viewing native plants at Taijiang National Park, taking boats in Sicao Green Tunnel (a.k.a. Amazon River in Taiwan), visiting Rende Sugar Refinery, and experiencing Ten Drum Cultural Village.
